Remote Access (outside the library)

Library Card

To access these online databases/resources, you need to be in one of our libraries using a PC or at a PC outside the library with your 14-digit library card and pin. If you are experiencing difficulty, make sure that:

  • your library card begins with 28674.
  • you are entering all 14 digits without spaces.
  • the Num Lock is on.
  • the Caps Lock is off.
Cookies and JavaScript need to be enabled

Enabling Cookies:

    • Internet Explorer–Click on Tools>Internet Options>Privacy.  A setting of medium should allow access. 
    • Firefox-Click on Tools>Options>Privacy.  Check the box to accept cookies.  From the drop-down your option how long to accept.
    • Safari-Click on Edit>Preferences>Security.  Under Accept Cookies, select Always or Only from sites you navigate to.  Question mark in window provides Help.

Enabling JavaScript:

    • Internet Explorer-Click on Tools>Internet Options>Security.  Select Internet, Default Level.  Move bar to Medium.
    • Firefox-Click on Tools>Options>Content.  Check the box to Enable JavaScript.
    • Safari-Click on Edit>Preferences>Security.  Check the box to Enable JavaScript.  Question mark in window provides Help.
Using the Latest Web Browsers? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari
Using AOL? Download a standard browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Firewalls

Sometimes a firewall installed on your system can create connectivity issues.  The firewall setting needs to be set to allow referring URLs. Consult your user guide or online help for assistance.
