Beginners

Keyboard and Mouse

Prerequisite: None
Objectives: If you know little or nothing about computers, this is the place to start.

Computer Basics: Working with Windows

Prerequisite: Knowledge of the keyboard and mouse.
Objectives: Learn about Microsoft Office software and its functions; become familiar with the basic commands in Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer software programs.

Computer Basics: File Management Prerequisite: Keyboard & Mouse and Working with Windows or comparable knowledge.
Objectives: Don’t know what to do with all those computer files?  We’ll help you get organized.

Internet I:
Getting Started

Prerequisite: Keyboard & Mouse or comparable knowledge of the keyboard and mouse.
Objectives: Learn your way around the Web with a hands-on guided tour.

Microsoft Office Applications

Word I:
Introduction

Prerequisite: Keyboard & Mouse or comparable knowledge of using the keyboard and mouse.
Objectives: Learn how to use the basic features of Microsoft Word.

Word II:
Formatting
Prerequisite: Word I or comparable knowledge of basic Word and use of the keyboard and mouse.
Objectives: Make your Word documents look more professional and polished.

Excel I:
Introduction

Prerequisite: Word I or comparable knowledge of Word and use of the keyboard and mouse.
Objectives: Learn the basic features of Microsoft Excel.

Excel II:
Charts
and Formatting

Prerequisite: Excel I or comparable knowledge of basic Excel and use of the keyboard and mouse.
Objectives: Learn to create simple charts using existing data and the chart wizard, create a detailed monthly budget using formulas and formatting tools such as borders and shading, and work with printing and page setup.

Publisher I:
Introduction
Prerequisite: Word I or equivalent knowledge of basic Word and the use of the keyboard and mouse.
Objectives: See what Microsoft Publisher has to offer and learn how to create flyers and brochures with text, borders, and graphics.
Publisher II: Newsletters & More
Prerequisite: Publisher I or comparable knowledge.
Objectives: Learn to be more creative with Publisher 2003 and how to turn your work into a webpage.
PowerPoint I - Introduction

Prerequisite: Word I or equivalent knowledge of basic Word and the use of the keyboard and mouse.
Objectives: See what Microsoft PowerPoint has to offer and learn how to create slideshows with text, graphics, and animation.

Beyond Basics

Internet II:
Finding What You Need

Prerequisite: Internet I or comparable knowledge and how to use the keyboard and mouse.
Objectives: Learn to improve your search results and really find the information you need by using Internet search engines and the Library’s online databases and catalog.
