Family Resource Center

The Henrico County Public Library, along with Henrico Healthy Families, is pleased to offer Family Resource Centers at the Dumbarton, Fairfield, and Tuckahoe Area Libraries.

Henrico Healthy Families is a partnership between Henrico County, Family and Children's Service of Richmond, and a number of community organizations. The program works with the Health Department and doctors throughout the County to offer support for parents of new babies, helping them find and use the resources they need to raise a happy, healthy child.

The Family Resource Centers assist the organization in this mission by offering a wealth of information on being a new parent. The Centers, found in the Children's Department of the Dumbarton and Fairfield Area Libraries, include parenting materials in a variety of formats. They also contain picture books for parents to read to their young children, toys that encourage the development of motor skills, and a variety of puzzles and other educational tools. And library staff members are always nearby to direct Center participants to other helpful area of the library collection.
