Online Workshops for Child Care Providers from VDSS

The Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Development at the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) provides a wide selection of online courses for child care providers looking to earn some Continuing Education credits. These classes are available all year long through the Community College Workforce Alliance.

Child Care Provider Trainings

Workshops for child care providers are offered monthly at various library locations, from September to May during weekday evenings. Participants earn 1.5 continuing education credit hours per workshop. Registration is free and must be done online with a Henrico County Library card. Please note that each provider must register with their own library card. If you do not have a Henrico County Public Library card, please apply with your photo ID at one of our branches.

A Place of Our Own” video workshops will be offered over the course of two weekends in November, 2015. Participants may earn 3 CE credit hours for each workshop attended.  There is a $5 fee for each video workshop.

Read-A-Book: A Distance Learning Program for Child Care Providers


Child care providers who are looking to earn some credit hours from the comfort of their own home, take notice!


Read-A-Book is a distance learning self-study program developed by the Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Development at the Virginia Department of Social Services.

Our November child care provider workshop is Social Skills for Toddlers, which will be presented by Christine Hallman from the Virginia Infant and Toddler Specialist Network. The workshop will be held at our Fairfield Area Library on Monday November 10 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Online registration begins October 10. Space is limited to 24 participants. Early registration is recommended.
