Technology has been recognized as a valuable part of the early education framework. Touch-screens have made digital media truly interactive as never before. That being said, there are a number of technology pitfalls that surround kids and families every day.
The Henrico County Public Library is happy to recommend a handful of Healthy Media Habits to help our families navigate the tricky world of technology:
Make a Media Plan
Get your whole family on board with a technology plan. Setting limits on family tech can help you make sure everyone knows what is expected. The American Academy of Pediatrics has a great list of tips for families to consider when making a plan, you can find it here: Family Media Use Plan

Dorey Recreation Center transforms into a creepy camp site to celebrate the hair-raising fun of Halloween! Experience s’mores and spooky stories by a larger-than-life bonfire, show off your costume in a contest of epic proportions, create Halloween crafts to delight the senses, and eat candy and play games ‘til your heart’s content! Monday, October 26 @ 6:30: Get into the Halloween spirit! Join us for not-too-spooky games and crafts. Trick-or-treating stations will be set up throughout the library, so don't forget your costume! Presented by the Northwest Teen Advisory Board and supported by the Friends of the Library.

Tuesday, October 27 @ 6:30 pm: Put on your costume, bring a treag bag and get ready to boogie & gather some treats! For ages 3 and older.
Halloween Magic Show @ Fairfield
Thursday, October 29 @ 7 pm: Help us celebrate Halloween with a magic show starring the Amazing Mr. B! Halloween treats will be shared at the end of the show.
Halloween Fair @ Tuckahoe

Join us for games, face painting, crafting, storytelling, and more! This free event is great for families looking for a safe and fun indoor Halloween celebration. Costumes encouraged. Hosted by the West End TAB and sponsored by the Friends of the Tuckahoe Library.
Celebrate the harvest with fun for the whole family. Explore hands-on activities and demonstrations such as candle dipping, apple pressing, tractor rides, and living history exhibits. Enjoy live musical entertainment and the Wild West Medicine Show. Children can pick their own pumpkin to take home from the “Great Pumpkin Patch”. Concessions will be available for purchase.
