Summer Reading Kickoff Parties with the Amazing Mr. B! – Monday, June 21 at 10 a.m. at Fairfield; Thursday, June 24 at 6 p.m. at Tuckahoe. Join us for an astounding kickoff to Tails and Tales, the 2021 Summer Reading Challenge. Prepare for a magical summer of reading with our good friend The Amazing Mr. B, who will dazzle and delight with his feats of illusion and mystification! This program will take place outdoors. Bring a blanket and prepare for the weather. In the event of adverse weather, an alternate rain date will be shared.

Outdoor Family Storytimes – Mondays at Twin Hickory, Wednesdays at Fairfield, and Thursdays at Tuckahoe, all at 9:30 a.m. Check our calendar for full scheduling details. Bring a blanket and join us for a socially distanced outdoor storytime filled with books, songs, and activities to help your child grow a love of reading and acquire the skills they need to start school ready to learn. These storytimes will be presented outside, weather permitting. Please visit the event listings to register for a rain date/indoor spot in the event of adverse weather.

For Teens

Teen Title Talk – Monday, June 22 at 2 p.m. Teens are invited to hang out at our weekly online book chat. Meet up with your friends and talk about what you're reading, share your favorite titles, and get recommendations from our book and pop culture fanatic librarians. This program will be held online via Webex. View the event listing for details.

Coping Strategies: Fortune Teller – Wednesday, June 23 at 6 p.m. Make a fun craft you can use to practice coping skills for strong emotions. All you need to have at home is paper, scissors and something to write with. We will also share other resources the library has available to help with self-care. This program will be held online via Webex. View the event listing for details.

For Adults

Chatting it up Live - Preparing for Homeownership. Monday, June 7 at 6 p.m., and additional sessions throughout June. Visit our calendar for more details.
Chatting it up Live is a series of free consumer focused virtual sessions. Each one-hour session features a panel of subject matter experts to address frequently asked questions about the homebuying process. During the sessions potential buyers will have the opportunity to ask questions through the chat box! Buying a home may be the largest transaction you'll ever make. Being a homeowner is exciting, but it's also a major financial responsibility and one you need to prepare for. A housing counselor can help you plan and get a handle on your finances. To register for this Zoom class, please email Yvette Preston at yvette.preston@longandofoster.com.

Film Discussions – HCPL is now featuring two dynamic and engaging film discussion groups. We hope you’ll join us!

All About RVs – Friday, June 18 at 10 a.m. If you are curious about camping with an RV, this is your chance to learn more. Two staff members will be bringing their RVs to the Tuckahoe Library parking lot to introduce you to the wonderful world of recreational vehicles.
