Announcing All Henrico Reads: Gray Dawn with Walter Mosley

With over 60 books to his credit and nearly every mystery writing award on his resume, we are excited to announce that this year’s signature community reading program, All Henrico Reads, will feature bestselling author Walter Mosley and his latest release, Gray Dawn. We invite the community to join us on Thursday, March 26 at 7 PM at the Henrico Sports and Events Center for an evening with the author, including an in-person discussion, Q&A, book sales from Book People, and a book signing. The event is free and open to the public. Read on for more information about this year’s all-community read and how to partake in the fun leading up to Mosley’s visit.

We are excited to host the prolific Walter Mosley, whose work spans several genres and mediums. In addition to the bookshelf, you’ll find his work on newsstands, stage, film, and television. In his latest thrilling mystery novel, Mosley revisits the story of detective Easy Rawlins, the popular protagonist from his best-selling novel and movie starring Denzel Washington, Devil in a Blue Dress. Set against the backdrop of 1970s Los Angeles, detective Easy Rawlins is settling in to a more peaceful life and managing his successful detective agency. But when a dark figure reemerges from his past, Easy will be drawn back in to a dangerous world that threatens to destroy everything he’s worked so hard to build. An exploration of family, aging, race, and resilience, Mosley weaves together another evocative tale about one of his most beloved characters. You can pick up a copy of Gray Dawn from a library near you (or borrow a digital copy on Libby), and share your thoughts on the title at an upcoming book discussion or related program.
