The Quince Project by Jessica Parra
[Insert book cover image here]The Quince Project is a book about exploring identity, family, and personal growth. Castillo, the main character, and her sister are still grieving over the loss of her mother and her dad turned to video games to cope with his grief. Her family isn't doing so well because of this loss. She tries to fill her life with event planning and she's really passionate about it. Castillo's dream is to be a party planner. When she has the opportunity to secure an incredible internship, she quickly tries to get more party planning experience so she can apply. Unfortunately she ends up getting tangled in little lies that make her life a little chaotic. She might even be falling for the chambelán. Castillo will have to be forced to navigate through the many things happening in her life.
I really liked this book and thought it was a fun read. It reminded me that we are always growing, and we have to face the challenging parts of our lives. It might be hard but facing them is what allows us to grow. I could definitely relate to this lesson. I also really liked the character development Castillo went through. She learns a lot of hard lessons and becomes a better person as a result. The writing style was easy to read and I had no trouble understanding what was going on. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book.
One thing I really liked was all the Disney references in the book. These topics constantly appeared throughout the book and I enjoyed it. Another thing was Castillo's character and how she was determined to succeed at whatever she put her mind to. She had a lot of character development and I enjoyed reading about it.
