gl timecapsuleThe Glen Allen Branch Library Time Capsule is located in front of the library beneath the marker pictured here. Originally placed when the library opened in 1995, it was removed and then reinstalled following the renovation and expansion of the building, which reopened in October 2010. The capsule is a type 200 stainless steel container, size 9" x 9" x 15" (L x W x S) with a volume of 1,215 cubic inches. The contents of the capsule are protected through oxygen absorption. The capsule is welded and painted. The time capsule and the marker are inscribed with the dedication date, August 7, 1995 and the opening date, August 7, 2045.
