Creative Careers for Teens: Upcoming Programs
Teens interested in pursuing a career in the arts but aren’t sure how are invited to join us for two upcoming program series where you can meet professionals working in creative fields. Whether you enjoy illustration, or history and artisan work are more your speed, both series will offer insights into the different opportunities available to those seeking creative careers.
Meet an Illustrator!
Meet local award-winning talent, learn what it’s like to be an illustrator, and see some drawing in action! This program is sponsored by the Friends of Henrico Library.
- Tuesday, July 8, 2-3PM at Fairfield
- Meet Shannon Wright. Wright’s illustration work includes Twins by Varian Johnsonand Holding Her Own: The Exceptional Life of Jackie Ormes by Traci N. Todd.
- Tuesday, July 15, 2-3PM at Libbie Mill
- Meet Theodore Taylor III. Taylor’s illustration work includes Garvey’s Choice: The Graphic Novel by Nikki Grimes,Woke: A Young Poet’s Call to Justice by Elizabeth Acevedo, and C is for Country by Lil Nas X.

- Meet Ron Salas. Salas has worked on several large projects including Eisner Comic Industry Award-nominated book Messenger: The Legend of Muhammad Ali by Marc Bernardin.

- If you love history, but also want to pay the rent when you grow up, there are more career options than you might think. Join us to learn about the wide and diverse field of historic preservation. We will be joined by a panel of professionals who will speak about job opportunities in conservation, archaeology, and other historic trades. Pizza will be provided. Presented by Historic Richmond, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.
